RECAP: Milton Keynes Local Election Results 2019 - Labour become largest party but No Overall Control remains

    Labour are now the largest party on Milton Keynes Council following the local elections yesterday in Milton Keynes.

    Both Labour and the Liberal Democrats made gains at the expense of the Conservative Party, who lost five seats in total.

    Milton Keynes Conservative Deputy Group Leader Catriona Morris lost her seat in Broughton to the Liberal Democrats, who also picked up seats in Monkston and Campbell Park and Old Woughton.

    Labour's gains from the Conservatives were in Bletchley West and Stony Stratford.

    But Conservative Group Leader Cllr Alex Walker retained his seat in Stantonbury despite a strong unseating challenge from Labour.

    The results see Milton Keynes Council remain under no overall control with Labour on 23 seats, the Conservatives with 19 seats and the Lib Dems with 15 seats.

    Council Leader Cllr Peter Marland (Labour) has said he will enter talks with the Liberal Democrats to continue in office at the Council.

    Voting in the Milton Keynes Local Elections took place yesterday for Milton Keynes Council, with the counting process and results arriving today.
