Hundreds of Milton Keynes students screened for weapons

Police operation designed to educate on knife crime.

Police officers from Milton Keynes Harm Reduction Unit and a local Neighbourhood Policing Team visited a Milton Keynes school to check pupils with a screening arch.

The officers went to Shenley Brook End School as part of Operation Detect, a scheme designed to tackle knife crime through prevention and education within MK’s secondary schools.

Working in partnership with the school, more than 1500 students walked through the screening arch which was being monitored by police officers. They were pleased to report that no illegal items were found on any students.

The operation provided the pupils with an opportunity to engage with police about the impacts that knife crime has on their lives, while also providing an opportunity for officers to provide helpful safety advice.

This type of preventative work is carried out by Thames Valley Police to help reduce knife enabled crime in the communities.
