The "Woughton is 50" family festival, held on Saturday (September 7), was a resounding success as hundreds of visitors and Milton Keynes residents came together to celebrate five decades of Woughton.
The festival, which took place in Netherfield, was a vibrant day of festivities, food, music, and community spirit, marking a significant milestone in the area's history.
The festival offered a diverse range of activities, including local food stalls, live music, art displays, heritage displays, and family-friendly games.
Attendees enjoyed performances by local musicians, explored Woughton’s rich history, and connected with local charities and community groups.
"We are thrilled with the turnout and the overwhelming support from the community," said Woughton Community Council Manager, Steve McNay.
"It was incredible to see so many people come together to celebrate Woughton’s past, present, and future. This event has truly captured the spirit of our community”, Steve added.
In addition to the entertainment and activities, the festival also provided an opportunity for local charities and organisations to engage with the community, raising awareness for important causes and strengthening local ties.
The festival marked the 50th anniversary of Woughton’s establishment, commemorating the first families who moved into the area and the rich community that has developed since. The event not only celebrated Woughton’s heritage but also looked ahead to its future, with many attendees reflecting on the positive impact the community has had on their lives.
Steve continued, "We are already hearing feedback from people asking for more events like this. It was a day filled with joy and a great reminder of what makes Woughton so special – its people."
As the celebrations came to a close, festival organisers expressed their gratitude to the volunteers and everyone who participated in making the day a huge success. Plans are already being discussed for future events to continue building on the community spirit fostered at the festival.
The next Woughton event is Apple Day, a day of apple picking and juice making, taking place on Saturday, September 28, at Coffee Hall Community Garden.
