Local households could receive parcels from the Royal Mail seven days per week as the company is trialling Sunday delivery.
Packages from major retailers will be delivered seven days a week as the company adapts to cope with the major spike in demand.
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen unprecedented pressure placed on the mail system, as it was reported a total of 496 million parcels were delivered by the Royal Mail in the quarter to 27 December 2020.
This major surge, alongside staff self-isolating, resulted in delivery 'blackspots' across the UK receiving very limited deliveries.
However, the Royal Mail has since adapted and is building a new parcel hub, with the capacity to process a million parcels a day, in Daventry.
It is the second - and largest - parcel hub constructed to date.
Nick Landon, chief commercial officer, said: "The UK already trusts us to deliver their purchases six days a week both quickly and conveniently. Now, for the first time, our posties will be doing the same thing seven days a week.
"We always listen to our customers, both senders and recipients, and the ask here was clear: we love what you do Monday to Saturday, so please do the same on a Sunday.
"So that's what we're doing, as quickly as possible, so we can offer it to more and more customers across the course of this year."
