Thames Valley Police has explained why officers were present at a retail park in Milton Keynes yesterday (8/9).
Part of the walkway outside The Card Factory at the Westcroft District Centre had been sectioned off in the early evening, with residents reporting a police presence and "white mats taped to the ground".
"Thames Valley Police was called to reports of an assault in Barnsdale Drive at around 4pm yesterday," a spokesperson said.
They continued: "The victim, a man in his fifties, was hit over the head with a walking stick and sustained a head injury. He was taken to hospital where he has since been discharged.
"An investigation is ongoing."
