Gyms and beauty salons hope to reopen as stage three of the Prime Minister's plans to ease lockdown restrictions.
Gyms, hairdressers and beauty salons will be allowed to reopen from 12th April, as long as strict conditions are met.
Boris Johnson described the plan to ease lockdown restrictions as "cautious but irreversible" and that he would make decisions based on "data, not dates".
The phased easing of lockdown will be based on these conditions being met:
- The vaccine deployment programme is continuing successfully
- Evidence continues to show that vaccines are sufficiently effective in reducing hospitalisations and deaths in those vaccinated
- Infection rates are not at risk of causing a surge in hospitalisations which would put unsustainable pressure on the NHS
- The government's assessment of the risks from the virus has not been "fundamentally changed" by new variants
Tier restrictions will no longer exist as the lockdown eases, instead, England will be treated the same across the board.
