Heavy rainfall causes flooding in various parts of Milton Keynes

    Today's heavy rainfall has resulted in disruption and flooding in various areas across Milton Keynes.

    There has been a yellow weather warning issued for rain, which will be lasting until 23:59 today (18/6).

    Bucks Fire has received dozens of phone calls relating to localised flooding in Milton Keynes and is working with other agencies to provide assistance. 

    Bletchley

    Bletchley has been severely impacted by flooding. Milton Keynes Council has closed a section of the V4 Watling Street between the H8 and Granby Roundabout due to pooled water. 

    Second Avenue in Bletchley, near to IKEA, is also severely flooded. As of 14:50, an MKFM listener says that the whole area is flooded and that there is a traffic jam. 

    Parts of Bletchley town centre have also been flooded, according to local Twitter users. Mill Road has also been affected.

    Multiple reports have also come from West Bletchley

    The Melrose Area has been impacted, with one listener saying that their flat's courtyard is covered in surface water. 

    Buckingham Road

    The Buckingham Road by Bletchley has flooded. Firefighters had to attend a pre-school along the road due to flooding affecting the premises. The crew had to isolate the electricity, and the pupils were sent home early.

    Newport Pagnell

    The top of the High Street, on the end of Dominos and the Fire Station, has flooded. 

    Priory Street has also collected high volumes of water; one resident has requested that the Council send sandbags and a road closure sign. 

    MKFM has received reports that Willen Road in Newport Pagnell is also flooded. 

    At 16:00, firefighters were called to a house along Wolverton Road due to flooding. Firefighters isolated the electricity. 

    Netherfield

    Coffee Hall

    Milton Keynes Council is aware of "localised flooding" in the estate.

    Bucks Fire rescued a man from his house shortly after 14:00 due to flooding making its way into the property. One appliance and crew from Buckingham attended. Firefighters used a ladder.

    Beanhill

    Families that have been impacted by the floods can seek refuge in the Moorlands Children’s Centre. Read more here

    Fishermead and Peartree Bridge 

    Bucks Fire says that reports are being made about localised flooding in the housing estates. 

    Those who are out driving across Milton Keynes should not drive on heavily-flooded roads. Bucks Fire and Milton Keynes Council will work to close the flooded roads as soon as possible.
