The Government’s Health Secretary, Wes Streeting MP, has said that the previous Conservative Government owes people across the country an apology, after being questioned by the MP for Milton Keynes North, Chris Curtis in the House of Commons.
The question was on the plans for a Women and Children’s Hospital in the city, with Chris asking if Mr Streeting believed residents in Milton Keynes were owed an apology “not just for the state that they’ve left our NHS in, but also for going into the election promising a new hospital for Milton Keynes even though they clearly did not have a plan for how they were going to deliver it”.
The Health Secretary confirmed that upon entering Government, Labour found that the timetables were “a work of fiction” and that funding for the new hospitals and hospital upgrades runs out in March, leaving many projects at risk.
Chris Curtis MP said, “I’m so angry that the health of residents in our city has been put at risk by the complete incompetence of the previous Government making promises they had no plans to deliver.
Fixing the state they left our local NHS in is my top priority. I will fight tooth and nail to ensure our city and its residents get the health facilities they need and deserve.”
