Harvester fans are threatening to boycott the restaurant over the changes.
The British restaurant chain has received criticism from its customers after bringing in a massive change to one of its most iconic food offers.
Harvester has over 230 outlets across the UK and is best known to customers for its self-serve salad bar which serves bread rolls, croutons, bacon bits, beetroot chunks and more.
Customers at Harvester are no longer able to fill-up their own bowls. Instead, Harvester fans will now have to queue for a member of staff to do it for them.
According to some reports, some salad bar options are also being phased out due to costs.
Harvester customer, Naomi Johnston, told the Sun newspaper this week: “We’ve always loved going to Harvester as a family, but this has made us think again. The salad bar is one of the best parts.
"I don’t like having to point and ask for my scoops of coleslaw, sweetcorn and thousand island sauce. When we complained we were told it was a company-wide measure caused by rising costs. It feels like the death of a Great British institution.”
Fans of the chain have also taken to social media to express their opinions on the changes. One restaurant goer wrote 'The salad bar is the best bit of Harvester by far. No point in going now,' another said: '
A spokesperson for Harvester, said: “We’re currently researching how to give our guests the best version of the unlimited salad bar in 2022 and beyond. We’re looking at consumer feedback, speaking to our teams across the UK, hygiene monitoring results and salad item supply as part of the process and hope to update Harvester’s salad bar fans with any changes in the coming weeks.”
