A grandmother from Kents Hill will be celebrating this weekend after winning £30,000 thanks to her lucky postcode.
Earlier this month, it was announced that two people from Marston Moretaine had won £50,000 each on the People's Postcode Lottery.
And it seems the local luck keeps on coming, as one woman is now £30,000 richer after her postcode MK7 6JL was announced as today's (22/1) winner.
51-year-old Rachel Saunders was on a break from work when she found out what she’d won on a video call with People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson.
When the prize cheque was revealed, Rachel who works in customer services at an insurance company, said: “Oh wow! Oh that is amazing. Thank you so, so much. It’s a lovely way to start the year!"
The grandmother-of-four added: “Everybody says they never win anything but I really don’t win anything! The fact that I’ve won something, especially that kind of money, it’s unbelievable for me, personally, that it’s happened to us is incredible.”
When asked how she would celebrate, Rachel said: “I’ll think there’s definitely going to be some champagne later on, once I’ve finished my day at work! How I’m going to concentrate, I do not know! I’ll talk to some family as well, obviously we can’t get to see many them but at least we can talk to them which will be lovely.”
Rachel also was quick to suggest some ideas on how she could spend her winnings: “I think the grandkids are definitely going to have to be spoilt, definitely! We’ve been looking at a new car for a while. We’d love a new car.
“When things are getting back to normal a really nice holiday, we’ve always dreamt about a really lovely holiday, so that in itself would be really amazing.”
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson congratulated the winner. He said: “It was a pleasure to bring this great news to Rachel and I can tell this win means the world to her. I hope she gets to go on that lovely holiday soon and enjoys spending her winnings.”
Everyday throughout the January draws one postcode will be announced as a £30,000 prize winner. All the players in the postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they hold.
People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.
