Flood alerts in place as Milton Keynes hit by heavy rainfall

The environment agency has issued flood alerts in the last 24 hours in locations across the UK, including Milton Keynes.

The environment agency says: “River levels are reacting quickly, and rising sharply in response to recent heavy rainfall.”

Flooding is possible into Monday 23/09/2024. Further rainfall is expected over today, which will keep river levels high and could also lead to some surface water problems.

The environment agency continued: “Take care on riverside roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.

“Our workforce are out checking flood defences and clearing weed screens.”
