First families move into new energy efficient affordable council homes in Milton Keynes

    MK Council

Four families have moved into new council homes built at Germander Place in Conniburrow as part of MK Council’s largest and greenest housebuilding programme.

The four three-bedroom properties were completed earlier this year and the families moved in this week.

The new homes are among the most energy efficient properties in Milton Keynes.

Cabinet Member for Adults, Housing and Healthy Communities, Cllr Emily Darlington visited one of the families this week.

The houses are fitted with photovoltaic panels and carbon-free heat-pumps installed instead of gas boilers to keep both emissions and costs down.

Cllr Darlington said: “A new home can open so many doors for a family and it was great to see that everyone is settling in really well.  We’re working hard to make progress on these much needed genuinely affordable new homes.”

A further 18 new council flats are being built nearby in Coltsfoot and are expected to be completed in May 2022.
