Fire crews called to two 'unsafe structures' in Milton Keynes as Storm Ellen hit yesterday

    Fire crews were called to two 'unsafe structures' in Milton Keynes yesterday afternoon as Storm Ellen hit the city.

    At around 4.22pm, crews were called to a corrugated structure on top of flats damaged by wind on Silbury Boulevard.

    Two appliances and crews from West Ashland and an officer attended.

    Firefighters used a turntable ladder, a toolkit and working-at-height equipment to remove loose currugated sheets from the top of the four-storey building.

    Then just over an hour later at 5.33pm, crews attended a loose handrail on a second-floor balcony also on Silbury Boulevard.

    Two appliances and crews from West Ashland attended.

    Firefighters used a turntable ladder and a toolkit to secure the wooden handrail.

    Elsewhere, Storm Ellen made its presence known with a fallen tree on a road in Milton Keynes and also the closure of two redways in the city.
