An information event will be taking place in Milton Keynes to allow the public to learn about the new East-West Rail line.
East-West Rail will be running a public information event in Bletchley tomorrow, Wednesday 26th July.
The event will take place from 2pm-8pm, at Fenny Stratford Community Centre, 13 George Street, Fenny Stratford.
The East West Rail scheme is set to re-establish a rail link between Cambridge and Oxford to improve connections between East Anglia and central, southern and western England.
The line will provide the first direct rail link in more than 50 years between Oxford and Bletchley/Milton Keynes
The project received backing from in the Autumn Statement, back in November.
Being introduced in stages, the first services will see a new link between Oxford and Milton Keynes with its new Bletchley station. As part of stage two, infrastructure between Bedford and Bletchley will be upgraded for new services between Bedford and Oxford.
The final stage will see the railway extended to allow services from Oxford to Cambridge, linking the major cities.
Residents will also have the chance to view the plans for the Marston Vale line between Bletchley/Fenny Stratford and Bedford.
The Marston Vale Line, which runs from Bletchley to Bedford, is due to to resume to its services in autumn 2023.
The line was suspended until further notice back in December, after confirmation that Vivarail had entered administration.
Since its suspension, London Northwestern Railway (LNR) have been working with the Department for Transport to come up with a solution which could see the return of trains as quickly as possible but due to short platforms along the line, there is a limited number of options, the Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership explained.
In an update issued by London Northwestern Railway in June, the train company said it has been a 'busy month' with preparations taking place to welcome the Class 150 trains which will now serve the Marston Vale Line.
"We have been advised by Northern, where the trains are currently in service, that they expect to release the trains to us next month (July). This will be an important milestone as it will allow us to begin training our technicians and train crew on the Class 150s," London Northwestern Railway said.
"Ahead of the trains' arrival with us we are continuing to make arrangements to develop the required driver and senior conductor training courses which our colleagues must complete to allow us to bring the trains into passenger service as soon as possible."
