The countdown has begun for Milton Keynes' first dedicated drum festival, held at MK11 Live Music Venue on July 21.
The Drum Cupboard (DC) is a “creative space for drummers”, founded in 2018 by J A Blunden. DC offers drum and percussion tuition, drum recording, workshops, drum hire, and now masterclasses and clinics.
The Drum Festival is a celebration of drums, including DC student performances, giveaways, prizes, and a lot more.
The festival will run a drum clinic with performances from band member, Richard Hawking, from band Hacktivist, AJ Rousell, from The Drummers Odyssey Camp, and of course DC’s very own, J A Blunden. There will also be merchandise available from local drum haven, BW Drumshop.
When it comes to drummers and drum enthusiasts, MK is a little limited with events. This festival is where DC has begun to make its mark, starting with delivery of local masterclasses, and now the Drum Takeover Festival.
Seeing a gap in the industry and market, founder J A Blunden set out to re-introduce drum events in Milton Keynes, building the local drum community, piece by piece. So far he has had Richard Hawking (Hacktivist), and Dave Forster, a Premier Drum Education Ambassador, perform masterclasses, with more planned for later in the year.
Founder J A Blunden told MKFM, "The Drum Cupboards core values are opportunity, inclusion and community, so expect to see a variety of performances from DC students of all ages and abilities. You'll also witness some electrifying clinic performances with three amazing drummers and educators.”
Blunden added, “If you like free stuff, there will be giveaways throughout the day along with a huge raffle at the end of the day with a massive range of prizes! If you're a drummer and you're free, you need to be part of this".
The festival will place on Sunday, July 21, at MK11 Live Music Venue and will start from 2pm -6pm. This is a family friendly event, so all ages with passion for drums and percussion are welcome.
