Disney store in Milton Keynes shopping centre to close next week

It has been confirmed that all Disney stores in the UK apart from it's flagship store in London will be closing as part of a worldwide review of their operations.

Following speculation, it has been confirmed that the Disney Store in centre:mk will be closing it's doors for the final time on Friday 16th July.

All Disney Stores in the UK and ROI are set to follow with permanent closures being made by September 2021, except the flagship stores at London’s Oxford Street and in Dublin.

Disney plans to improve its current website 'ShopDisney' and increase its rangfe of products to include more adult clothing collections, home products and Disney collectables.

Disney had previously hinted that UK physical store closures were forthcoming. In an announcement released earlier this March, Disney did confirm that they were planning to "significantly reduce its brick-and-mortar footprint" over the coming year.

Stephanie Young, the president of Consumer Products, Games and Publishing (CPGP) for Disney, explained the reasoning behind this move as she said: "While consumer behaviour has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer.

"Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world.

"We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected e-commerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises."
