COVID-19 vaccination centres across Milton Keynes WILL remain open today despite weather warnings

Despite weather warnings of snowy weather and icy conditions, vaccination sites and the majority of test centres across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes will remain open.

NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes took to social media to announce that all previously arranged appointments would still take place today, they said: "There are weather warnings for snow on Sunday, but our vaccination centres will be open. Our centres will be cleared, well gritted and safe."

Those who are travelling should take care due to the expected icy conditions of the road. NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes announced that they had staff ready to offer assistance with travel during this time, as they said: "If you have an appointment but can’t drive in the snow and need help, contact 0300 7900267. We have a team ready to help."

Last night (06/02), Ringway MK, the local council's road gritting agency, assured residents that it was doing all it could to ensure that vaccinations site could remain open. They tweeted: "Hand salting & vehicle gritting is taking place at key testing and vaccine sites prior to the risk of snow.

"Our team will change over to night shift from 10pm, further gritting expected overnight & tomorrow also.

"Our gritting team have carried out a number of pretreatments to the roads, redways & high streets of MK. There has been very little snow so far but the risk of snow continues for the next few days."

If you do not have a vaccination appointment, it is currently recommended that you only travel for essential reasons only. The full list of government-issued travel advice can be accessed by clicking here.
