According to plans, Milton Keynes Council could potentially hand over its last two day nurseries to a private company.

The private company which could take over Playzone Day Nursery in Netherfield and Rowans Day Nursery in Fullers Slade is the Acorn Early Years foundation.

Previously, the council ran six nurseries including the two that could be handed over.

The other four were given to Acorn Early Years Foundation and Kids Play back in 2012.

Acorn Early Years Foundation currently has 14 nurseries in total with 10 in Milton Keynes.

In a statement, Stony Stratford Town Council has raised concerns saying: "Stony Stratford Town Council has written to MKC expressing its concern about the lack of consultation and the impact on working families".

A report from Buckinghamshire Live suggests this move could save the council £182,000 a year.
