The Leader of Milton Keynes Council has confirmed support to deliver on ambitious plans to switch to electric public transport in the city.
Milton Keynes Council is committed to making the switch to all-electric buses in the city via the Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) initiative.
The local authority says these ambitious plans will help to reduce CO2 emissions and help the Council to reach its target of becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
Labour Councillor Jenny Wilson-Marklew, Cabinet Member for Climate and Sustainability said: “The new Progressive Alliance is committed to making Milton Keynes carbon neutral by 2030.
"On average over 250,000 trips are taken by bus in MK every month, and by switching to electric buses we can have a big impact on reducing CO2 emissions in the city.”
Leader of the Council, Cllr Pete Marland added: “Milton Keynes has a proud tradition of being at the forefront of applying new technology to advance the development of the city, and this initiative is aligned to our commitment to lead by example by creating the greenest city in the world."
