The Council is investing £35,700 to help aspiring entrepreneurs in Milton Keynes secure funding through Dragons Den-styled schemes.
The funding allocated through the Council’s £3.5m Economic Recovery Plan is being shared between Central Arc Angels and the MK Investors Group to run events where local entrepreneurs can pitch their business ideas to potential investors.
The Council’s funding will help provide training for people looking for investment and those looking to invest in new ventures.
Deputy Leader of MK Council, Cllr Robin Bradburn said: “MK is brimming with people with fantastic ideas and these investor groups are a real opportunity to take those ideas to the next level. I’d really encourage anyone who has a business idea and needs some financial support to go along to one of these events – it could be life changing.”
Central Arc Angels bring together business founders and angel investors through regular pitch events.
Run by a steering group of experienced advisors, angel investors and business owners who have great connections within the Central Arc region (Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, and Northamptonshire).
Yvette Lamidey, Co-founder Central Arc Angels said: “Central Arc Angels are very pleased to be working closely with Milton Keynes Council on this project. More than ever there’s a clear need for both the training and the events and we're looking forward to facilitating these events and seeing these innovative ideas truly come to life.”
On the funding, MKIG Manager, Amar Chauhan said “This is a great opportunity to grow and develop the network to reach a wider audience and help more startups and SME’s raise vital funds to bounce back from the effects of COVID. As a not-for-profit organisation, this funding will be highly impactful, and we thank MK Council for their assistance.”
