According to reports, Milton Keynes is being considered as a possible site for a Formula One team's proposed new technical centre.
Milton Keynes has been involved in Formula One for almost 30 years, being home to Red Bull Racing, who were previously branded as Jaguar (2000-2004) and Stewart GP (1997-1999).
The city sits firmly within what is known as Motorsport Valley in the UK, with the likes of Williams Racing, Haas F1, Aston Marton Aramco, Mercedes-AMG Petronas and even 2026 entrant Cadillac all based close by.
Seven of the 10 current Formula One teams have main bases in the UK, with Ferrari (Maranello), Racing Bulls (Faenza) and Kick Sauber (Hinwil) the exceptions.
However, it is the latter team that is looking at making changes to their operations ahead of their transition to Audi for the 2026 season.
Sauber have commented that this new technical centre proposition "is a key component of the Audi F1 project’s long-term strategy to enhance and expand its technical capabilities".
Milton Keynes has been named as one of the places the team is considering to set up their new facility, along with nearby Bicester (Oxfordshire) and Silverstone (Northamptonshire).
This could see the city host two Formula One teams at the same time, in the same fashion that Silverstone, home to the British Grand Prix, will with Aston Martin and Cadillac from 2026 onwards.
However, this does not mean the team will be moving all operations here and will continue to have their primary base located in Hinwil, Switzerland - at least until Audi F1 have determined the long-term future of the team once it takes full control.
Sauber Motorsport COO and CTO Mattia Binotto, explained: “We are excited to establish our technical centre in the UK to complement our key site in Hinwil, which will continue to lead our main engineering operations and experience the largest team growth."
"Expanding into the UK allows us to remain close to one of the world’s most dynamic motorsport ecosystems."
He concluded: "Our vision is to create a strong, collaborative network across Hinwil and the UK, driving innovation and performance."
