Coronavirus vaccination centre at Milton Keynes Hospital is temporarily closed

The COVID-19 vaccination centre at Milton Keynes Hospital is temporarily closed to ensure staff can prepare to roll out second doses.

The vaccination centre was one of the nation's first hospital vaccination hubs that opened in December 2020 as the Government began its mass vaccination rollout.

Staff have been busy administering the vaccines since then; MKFM revealed last week that over 17,000 people have been vaccinated at the hospital so far

And now, the hospital is preparing to start offering second doses to these people. A hospital spokesperson has said that the vaccination centre closed on 14th February to allow preparations to take place, and it will reopen on 22nd February.

From this date, Milton Keynes Hospital will be offering second doses and "a limited number" of first doses.

The hospital spokesperson continued: "Any colleagues who would like to book for a first dose can book a slot at MKUH from 22nd February onwards using the staff booking app. Alternatively, bookings at other vaccine centres can be made via the NHS National Booking Service, you can do so here: (http://nhs.uk)."

The NHS National Booking Service is currently open to people over 65-years old, those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, and frontline health or social care workers.

There are several other places where residents can have their vaccine whilst the hospital's vaccination centre is closed. This includes multiple GP surgeries and the mass vaccination centre at Saxon Court.
