Captain Tom Moore completes 100th lap of his garden weeks before his 100th birthday

Soldiers from The Yorkshire Regiment surprised the WW2 veteran with a guard of honour as he finished his birthday challenge this morning (16/4).

He has since raised over £12 million for NHS charities, massively exceeding his initial target of £1,000.

Captain Tom, who lives in Marston Moretaine with his family, has received donations from over 60,000 people worldwide.

He told MKFM that he wanted to give back to those working "so hard", who are "so tired" and are "really doing so well" during the current climate.

Thousands of people are now sending Captain Tom birthday cards for him to open at the end of the month. Celebrities, including Jason Donovan, Piers Morgan, and David Walliams, have also commended him for his outstanding efforts. And now, people from across the country are calling for Captain Tom Moore to be knighted.

"It would be marvellous to have such an honour, but I don't expect anything like that," he told the BBC.

"I think it would be absolutely enormous - Sir Thomas Moore, have you ever heard such a thing."
