A busy pothole-ridden roundabout in Milton Keynes is going to be resurfaced next month.
Residents have regularly taken to social media to complain about the road surface on the Brinklow Roudabout next to the Kingston Centre, as it is "full of potholes".
The roundabout, situated where the H8 Standing Way intersects with the V11 Tongwell Street, requires extensive repair work after prolonged cold, wet conditions caused existing defects to worsen significantly.
Milton Keynes Council has said that the roundabout will be resurfaced as part of a major upgrade project starting next month, to help improve traffic flow in the area.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the scheme was delayed until now, with only minor repairs being carried out to keep it in a safe condition.
The first stage of the work will take place in late April on the road structure to install new ducts under the existing road surface. It will then be completely resurfaced including the approaches to the roundabout and new road markings will be added.
Finally, the street lights will be checked and repaired where needed and the road drains (gullies) cleaned.
Councillor Emily Darlington, Cabinet Member for Public Realm, said: “Literally thousands of vehicles including many HGVs use this roundabout each day, so we know how important it is to get this work done properly and quickly.
“MK Council are investing an additional £150k in pothole repairs this year.”
The work will take place during off-peak times between 9:30am and 4pm each day. A local diversion route will be in place during this time and clear signage will be in place to assist road users.
