'Major incident' declared by Bucks Fire and Rescue Service

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have declared a 'major incident' this evening.

A spokesperson said: "We have declared a major incident due to high demand across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes."

"We will not be attending Automatic Fire Alarms."

"Please only call us if it is an emergency."

It comes as emergency services attended a large fire earlier today in Walnut Tree.

Around 15 appliances and crews were at the scene of the large fire in Milton Keynes at its height, which has left a nursery and three homes destroyed, according to the fire service.

Bucks Fire and Rescue has also reported that a total of 39 properties have been evacuated.

One female adult suffered smoke inhalation and left in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Milton Keynes Council has set up two rest areas for those affected in the Tawny Owl pub and Heronsbrook Meeting Place.

The fire is now under control and a number of local residents have since kindly offered to help those affected.
