Brave officers recognised after saving man's life in Milton Keynes

Thames Valley Police Chief Constable John Campbell honoured four officers who saved a man's life at his latest awards ceremony at Cotswold Hotel and Spa in Chipping Norton on 24th August.

PCs James Dalton and Richard Fenemore, along with two other officers, apprehended a man armed with a knife who had started a fire and was intent on taking his own life in Milton Keynes in April 2021.

They detained the man who had self-inflicted life threatening injuries, whilst the room was filled with smoke and still on fire.

They were nominated shortly after the incident by Sergeant Neil Wathes, who said: “Without question the fast actions of these officers saved the life of the man.

“They have shown genuine bravery in the face of a violent and dangerous subject.”

On receiving his award, PC Dalton said: “We're honoured to be receiving this award and recognition for our efforts.”
