The new store opened at 8am today with Team GB Olympic Cyclist hero Ryan Owens cutting the ribbon.

The Kingston Centre store will be run by store manager Nick Taylor, along with a team of 35 colleagues from the local area.

Aldi, which now has more than 950 stores across the UK, is currently opening an average of one store each week and plans to open 100 new stores across the UK over the next two years.

The store opened at 8am with Team GB Olympic cyclist hero Ryan Owens cutting the ribbon.

In celebration, Ryan Owens gave away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi's famous Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.

He will also deliver an inspirational virtual assembly for pupils at Middleton Primary as part of the supermarket's Get Set to Eat Fresh initiative which encourages school children aged 5-14 years to learn more about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food with their families.

As Aldi has been felling Team GB with fresh, healthy food since 2015, the silver medallist from Tokyo Olympic Games 2021 will focus Middleton Primary's assembly on the benefits of eating healthily and the importance of exercise and believing in yourself. He will talk to pupils about his experience of competing as an Olympian and shared his challenging training regime.

In addition, Aldi has offered pupils at the local primary school the opportunity to win a £20 gift voucher to spend at the new store. Children at Middleton Primary have been tasked with creating a poster to show what healthy eating means to them. Ryan Owens will announce the winner during the virtual assembly.

John Richardson, Regional Managing Director, said: "Opening our 10th store in Buckinghamshire means that we're another step forward in making Aldi available to as many shoppers as possible. "That means even more people in Buckinghamshire have easy access to the highest-quality groceries and the lowest prices, every day. But we won't stop there. We're opening around one new store each week across the UK with more stores planned across the county in the next few years.'

Nick Taylor, Store Manager, said: "It's been a wonderful morning here at the opening of Aldi at Kingston Centre. It was lovelv to welcome our new customers into store and I look forward to meeting more of the community in the coming weeks.
