Angel Mums from Milton Keynes take on Earth, Wind and Fire challenge

Angel Mums was created in October 2023 when 8 mums who had all lost their children to a brain tumour came together to raise money for the Tessa Jowell foundation. Together they completed their first challenge a parachute jump raising over £77k.

Brain Tumours are the biggest killer of children and under 40’s yet it only receives 1% of the national allocation of funding from cancer research. Angel Mums mission is to turn their pain into hope by raising awareness and funds for better treatment options and care in the UK for Brain Tumours in the memory of their children.. To help families who are and will face this devastating and terminal diagnosis.

The Tessa Jowell foundation is tirelessly working to transform the care in the NHS working to bring together experts in the medical profession, research and government funding. They have already rolled out centres of excellence in adult care across the UK and are now extending this into Paediatric care which is where Angel Mums fit perfectly. Many of them were forced to travel abroad for treatment and now want to give better opportunities here in the UK.

In 2024 they came up with the ‘Earth, Wind and Fire Challenges’

Earth - they climbed Snowdon in May.

Wind - they wing walked in July.

Fire - they take on their final challenge for 2024 by walking over hot coals in October.

The group has grown with over 25 Angel Mums joining them to take on this year’s challenges. Amazingly they have been shortlisted from over 18000 people to the final 3 in the Go cardless Just Giving awards in the fundraising category and will attend the awards on the 18th of September.

They'd love to raise awareness and sponsorship for their hot coals challenge in October to date they have raised over £110,000 but their target is £150,000 to fund all the Children’s centres of excellence in the UK.
