Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been convicted of having a knife in public in Milton Keynes.
Benjamin Rolls, aged 19, of Moorfoot, Fullers Slade, Milton Keynes, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on Friday (23/6).
He was released on conditional bail and is due to be sentenced at the same court on 18 July.
PC Daniel Smith from the Rural Crime Taskforce conducted a stop-and-search on Rolls following intelligence in Woolmans, Fullers Slade, at around 11am on Thursday (22/6).
The officer found a knife with a 10-inch blade on his person so PC Smith arrested Rolls.
Rolls was charged and remanded on the same day then put before the next available court.
PC Smith said: “This case demonstrates our commitment to tackling knife crime through Operation Deter.
“Op Deter is a robust, zero-tolerance approach to tackling knife crime, where we will robustly target and pursue those who carry knives in public and put them before the courts as quickly as possible.
“This case also demonstrates how important stop and search is to everyday policing.
“We are committed to protecting our communities and we will strive every day to keep public safe.
“Rolls is the fourth person to be arrested, charged and remanded for knife crime-related offences by the Rural Crime Taskforce in the last four months, all of whom have been convicted.”
