14 day isolation period impacts a local school's staff numbers, meaning it must "partially close"

It has been today (17/3) announced that Lord Grey Academy in Bletchley will "partially close" this week, meaning students in years 9 and 10 should not attend school for the rest of the week.

The Government's new advice that households living with someone showing symptoms of COVID-19 should isolate for 14 days has had a significant impact on staff numbers at the school.

As a result, Lord Grey have "prioritised" those sitting exams and younger students who cannot be left at home unsupervised. Jim Parker, Principal, said: "We have decided that from tomorrow students in Year 9 and Year 10 should not attend school for the rest of this week. Staff will be preparing work for the students to do via on-line resources and we will be reminding them today of their passwords and log in details. We hope that the first pieces of work will be available from tomorrow.

"I am very sorry that we have had to make this decision but we cannot provide an education for all year groups with the number of staff that we have available. We will write again to update you on arrangements later this week."
