Watford Junction relocates to Milton Keynes for one weekend only

Record producer and Guinness World Records holder Pete Waterman OBE is returning to Milton Keynes this weekend.

October 12 and 13 with a section of his record-breaking ‘OO’ gauge West Coast Main Line (WCML) layout at the annual Key Publishing Great Electric Train Show. The event takes place at the Marshall Arena, Stadium MK, Milton Keynes.

Pete’s Making Tracks 4 layout will feature one quarter of the display developed for the successful record-breaking attempt to create the World’s Largest Portable Model Railway earlier this year at Model World LIVE at the NEC in Birmingham and models the southern section of one of Europe’s busiest railways between Roade Cutting and Watford Junction.

For this year’s Great Electric Train Show, Pete and his Railnuts team have made the Watford Junction station area even more realistic by adding suburban line platforms, stunning scale height 20 storey flats and the distinctive station office block which measures over 1m in length and half a metre tall. All these buildings are modelled with bespoke laser-cut structures replicating the real features at Watford Junction in miniature. A stunning collection of realistic scale model trains which run through Watford will be passing through the model all weekend.

Making Tracks 4 is just one of the 30 stunning model railway layouts on display this weekend at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, some of which will be travelling to the show from as far afield as Scotland and Cornwall.

Attracting more than 5,000 visitors, the Great Electric Train Show is open from 10am this Saturday and Sunday (October 12/13) at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes MK1 1ST. Tickets are £20 for adults and £10 for children on the day. On the Sunday, up to two children will be admitted free with each paying adult.
