Local businesses in Milton Keynes support Giving Tuesday

Businesses across Milton Keynes are stepping up to support the #InvisiblePovertyMK appeal this Giving Tuesday, raising crucial funds for local charities helping families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

The MK Community Foundation’s Invisible Poverty Appeal highlights the hidden struggles faced by thousands in our community. From fuel poverty to food insecurity, families are making impossible choices: heating their homes or feeding their children.

Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, offers the perfect opportunity to focus on the seasonal spirit of giving back and supporting our local communities.

Already, local businesses like Facilities Gas Solutions and Kirkby Diamond have joined the effort, providing invaluable contributions to the campaign. Their support will help fund charities delivering warmth, food, and hope to vulnerable families across the city.

Dan Cole, Operations Director at Facilities Management Solutions, said:

"When the MKCF team shared this year's theme of their Cost-of-Living campaign, we thought it was very powerful, and it was our absolute pleasure to play even a small part in supporting those in Milton Keynes affected by poverty. It’s now our aim to help raise awareness and get other organisations involved and supporting the great work they do across our city”

He added: “If you have the means to provide support, we would encourage any other local organisations to consider getting involved with this fantastic campaign.”

Recently, a £10,000 grant funded through the appeal has enabled local charity Unity MK to start their ’Recovery, Resilience and Support Program’ - a new initiative set up to continue to scale up their free support services for those experiencing homelessness and vulnerable families across Milton Keynes.

Luke Tillison, Managing Partner at Kirkby Diamond said:

"Our partnership with MKCF is essential in ensuring that we give back to the community we live and work in. Now, more than ever, kindness, generosity, and support for those in need are crucial. Supporting Giving Tuesday goes beyond just making a donation—it's a chance to create a lasting impact. We encourage other businesses in the community to join us in supporting MKCF, help make a real difference and build a stronger, more compassionate community for all."

Milton Keynes Community Foundation is calling on businesses to join the campaign and make a direct impact to the thousands of families suffering in silence.

Claire Baldock, Marketing Director at MK Community Foundation, shared:

“The support of local businesses can make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling to make ends meet this winter. We urge you to take action and help us ensure that no one in our community is left behind.”
