    Dominic joined the property industry in 2007 at the age of 20. He had an 11 year career at the UK’s largest corporate agency, where he became the youngest Regional Director in the company, before leaving to coach estate agents in Mayfair who were operating in the prime market. Dominic wanted to use his experience of the prime London market and traditional estate agency to set up his own company to overcome the flaws in the traditional set up that he believed existed. His love for Milton Keynes meant there was only one home for Lion Estates to be born.

    Lion Estates is a team of self-employed ‘personal’ estate agents. Rather than dealing with a large team in a traditional branch, the team at Lion Estates believe that allocating one agent to look after all aspects of your move is the key to reduced stress and better results. Although self-employed, they are all connected by their genuine drive to constantly improve and raise the standard of estate agency in the UK. Their numerous awards both locally and nationally are testament that their approach is shaking up the estate agency industry. 

    “I started Lion Estates because I felt the perception of estate agents is that we are a necessary evil. This isn’t the case in most countries, so I wanted to replicate the structure from markets where we are seen as a valuable asset. Moving home is a big deal and is extremely stressful, so the last thing you need is your agent adding to that stress. Your move is personal to you, so you should feel like a priority at all times. With Lion Estates you have one expert who takes the time to understand your needs, and then deliver exactly what’s best for your own circumstances”.

    “People are always shocked to learn that, traditionally, estate agents only earn 3-10% commission of the fee paid by the seller. This means they aren’t incentivised to deliver maximum results, and are forced by their companies to focus on volume. For example, for each £10,000 the estate negotiates for a seller, the actual agent only earns £3 - £10 (based on an average 1% fee to the estate agency and then 3-10% for the agent)”. As Lion Estates’ agents are self-employed it means each agent earns a much larger proportion of the fee (50% - 75%), so they can deal with quality rather than quantity. Ultimately they can dedicate more time to each client and deliver on what really matters to each individual seller. “Our tagline is ‘A New Breed of Estate Agent’ because that’s exactly what we are - we aren’t simply trying to be a better version of what already exists, we are offering something completely different to other estate agents”.

    Lion Estates covers Milton Keynes, Leighton Buzzard, Towcester and the Bedfordshire villages. They are launching a new office in Woburn in August under a new sister company - Lion Prestige. “We feel we've already brought high-level marketing to the mid-market, so wanted to offer an even higher standard of proactive marketing to luxury homes in the area. We felt there was a big gap in the market for our style of agency as most luxury agents are very traditional and don’t take advantage of new, modern, (and most importantly) proactive marketing techniques. At the top of the market you can make a much bigger impact on the result you achieve for the seller, as homes tend to have a wider valuation range.”
