Arts1 announces the opening of trial acting classes for young performers aged 9-18.
Held throughout the week at the new state of the art Linford Wood studios, these classes offer a dynamic environment for aspiring actors to explore their talents and gain invaluable experience.
As part of its commitment to providing exceptional opportunities, Arts1 is proud to participate in the National Theatre’s Connections programme in 2025. This prestigious initiative not only commissions new plays for young people but also culminates in performances at the iconic National Theatre in London. The programme brings together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow, offering a platform for youth companies to showcase their talents on a national stage.
“Performing at the National Theatre is a dream come true for many young actors,” said James Grimsey, Creative Director at Arts1. “Our students will have the incredible opportunity to experience professional theatre production firsthand, collaborate with peers nationwide, and perform on one of the most renowned stages in the world.”
In addition to this remarkable opportunity, younger groups are delving into devising their own original pieces. They are studying the Seven Basic Plots—a framework that explores universal storytelling archetypes such as tragedy, comedy, and rebirth. By understanding these fundamental narratives, students are actively creating performances around themes like tragedy, allowing them to deepen their creative expression and storytelling skills.
Adding to its diverse offerings, Arts1 introduces the new Theatre Workshop class. Designed for those interested in both on-stage and behind-the-scenes roles, this class covers makeup, costumes, technical design, clowning, and improvisation. The workshop takes place every Saturday afternoon from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, providing a comprehensive experience in various aspects of theatre production.
