West Coast train customers in Milton Keynes urged to plan ahead to avoid rail upgrade impacts

Major Easter and early May bank holiday engineering work is set to take place between London Euston and Scotland.

Train customers planning trips to and from Euston on the West Coast main line this Easter are being urged to plan ahead.

The work is set to take place between 15th - 18th April and 30th April – 2nd May 2022.

National Rail has announced plans to invest millions of pounds to improve journeys for passengers and freight on the West Coast main line.

They warn: "We strongly advise passengers travelling between London Euston and Scotland on these dates to travel either side of both long weekends (15 – 18 April and 30 April – 2 May). This is while we upgrade the railway.

"Passengers needing to travel could have longer, busier journeys and may need to use rail replacement buses."

The routes affected set to be:

    • between London Euston and Milton Keynes
    • on the Coventry corridor from Leamington to Coventry and Rugeley to Birmingham New Street (Easter weekend only)
    • on services to and through Crewe
    • between Carlisle and Glasgow and Edinburgh (Easter weekend only).
