Traffic lights could be installed at busy Milton Keynes junction that has a 'history of collisions'

Proposals have been shared by the council which includes the potential installation of traffic lights at a busy city centre junction known for accidents.

These lights would be installed at the junction of V6 Grafton Street and Avebury Boulevard.

Milton Keynes Council says that this would "reduce congestion, help traffic flow, and improve road safety" in the busy area.

This location has been identified by officials after a history of collisions and high congestion at peak times. There are a few new developments proposed in this area, which the council says will potentially add to the congestion levels.

The local authority wishes to add traffic lights because they "provide the most effective solution for this location."

A spokesperson added: "Firstly, they will control the traffic flow from each direction, including the many buses that are using this route and will help to reduce congestion.

"Secondly, they will slow the traffic down, so this will help to reduce potential vehicle collisions in this area."

Milton Keynes Council is now seeking people's thoughts on these plans.
