Ongoing flood warnings remain in place throughout some areas of Milton Keynes

Due to recent levels of heavy rainfall over the last week, an orange flood warning remains in place throughout areas all across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

After some flooding throughout Milton Keynes over the last week, the government has decided to keep the orange flood warning in place for the time being.

They warn that more flooding is possible and that residents should be prepared. This warning will mainly impact areas of western Milton Keynes, such as Loughton.

The flood warning reads: “River levels are high and steady at the Brackley river gauge as a result of the recent rainfall.

Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We expect flooding to affect River the Great Ouse from Brackley to Haversham, including Padbury Brook.

“More rain is forecast for this afternoon and evening. We expect river levels to rise again over the weekend in response to the forecast rainfall.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.”

Although the river levels were previously quite high, it is believed that the River Great Ouse is slowly but surely returning to a manageable level – which should hopefully not pose a substantial risk.

Further updates are expected later today (06/02).
