Two roads in Wavendon are being reduced to 20mph zones following consultations.
Work has started this week on implementing two new 20mph speed limits in the Wavendon area of Milton Keynes.
The decision follows a consultation process which took place between May and June.
Speed limits on Stockwell Lane and Dankworth Way are being lowered to 20mph from 30mph in a bid to 'improve road safety'.
Work started yesterday (7 August) to introduce new signage, lining, lighting works and to cut back vegetation.
'The introduction of the 20mph speed limit will help to reduce vehicular speeds on Stockwell Lane and Dankworth Way, which will encourage and facilitate safe pedestrian and cyclist movements,' a spokesperson says in the Statement for Reasons.
'As the Highway Authority for Stockwell Lane and Dankworth Way, Milton Keynes City Council is satisfied that the introduction of the above proposed speed restriction will encourage the convenient and safe movement of vehicular traffic.'
