A5 reopens in both directions between Towcester and Old Stratford

The A5 between Towcester (A43) and Old Stratford (A508) has now reopened following this morning's closure.

Highways England had closed the road due to smoke blowing across the road from a fire at a nearby aquatic shop.

Fire crews from Northants Fire were called to Hobby Fish, down Towcester Road, as a serious fire started in the early hours of this morning (25/5).

Wrigglies, the adjoining reptile store, has stated that they will remain closed today as the incident has left the site "very unsafe". They also stated that all animals in the store have been evacuated.
