Organs were the soundtrack of the fairground, and visitors to this celebration will be able to hear the historic organs playing just as they used to, back when youngsters would have soaked up all the fun of the fair with its toffee apples, hoopla and thrilling rides.

From petite music boxes to centre-of-attractions, the Museum will be dancing to a decidedly different tune at the sound-sational weekend, which is being hosted across October 12 & 13.

“There is something undeniably enjoyable about the sound of a fairground organ, and we'll have lots of examples on display,” Museum director Bill Griffiths said, “Come and see all the Museum has to offer, and let the festival charm you,” Bill invited, “We're thrilled to have a huge Gavioli Organ, dating to 1903, as part of this year's offering, thanks to the generosity of the Emmett family.

“The Organ Festival is an enchanting event with the music makers to match. It sounds like a great weekend, and we promise it will be!”
